Reading Counts

Santiago Elementary and its PTA has sponsored the Scholastic SRI/Reading Counts software so that our students can take comprehensive reading tests that chart progress and give the teachers a clear view of their progress. SRI/Reading Counts reading assessments will assist teachers in tracking students' reading levels, students' reading growth over time, and helps guide instruction according to students' needs.

Reading Counts successfully pairs reading ability with reading material to increase success.

Please support your child in selecting the appropriate reading levels books and reminding them to test on their books in the computer lab or their individual classrooms.

Taking the tests in a timely fashion after they complete the reading is important for the best comprehension.

Research dictates that when parents read to their children it helps them become a better reader. When selecting the book you as a parent will read, please use the search above and give them another opportunity to test and be successful.
