Purpose of PTA
• To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
• To raise the standards of home life.
• To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
• To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
• To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
Santiago PTA Programs
Your membership dues, donations, fundraising, and volunteer efforts all contribute to these PTA programs!
Art Program: Art Masters provides all grade levels with the opportunity to learn about and try out the techniques of famous artists. The PTA then provides the funds, the training, and the docents for the program.
School Calendar: Prepared by the PTA as a means of keeping parents informed of upcoming events, meetings, school vacations and holidays and other important events. One calendar is provided to each family at the beginning of the school year.
Family Fun Nights: Fun-filled evenings of music, science, story telling, theater, and more for the whole family.
Eagle's Quill: A Santiago newsletter prepared by the PTA for your enjoyment and information. A short version is sent home with your child. An information packed version is available online.
Daybreak with Dads: A morning designed with dads in mind. Dads (and other important guys in our kids’ lives) are treated to coffee, juice and muffins in the stage area before school.
Ident-a-Kid: Originally designed by law enforcement agencies, this program photographs and fingerprints children for the purpose of identification.
Mornings with Moms: A morning designed with mothers in mind. Mothers and other important women in the children’s lives are treated to coffee, juice and muffins in the stage area before school.
Open House/Ice Cream Social: Yet another event planned with the family in mind. Ice cream sundaes are offered to families before attending Open House.
Random Acts of Kindness Week: A proven positive program designed for children to generate kindness and caring throughout the community.
Red Ribbon Week: A full week of programs to encourage children from to stay away from drugs and adopt healthy lifestyle choices.
Reflections: A program designed for children to express themselves though art, photography, music and literature.
Science Fair: A program to develop budding scientist and display their achievements.
Staff Appreciation Week: PTA has used this week to show teachers and staff how much they are appreciated by means of lunch and pampering.
Web Site: Santiago PTA maintains a web site at www.santiagopta.com. The site contains an up to date calendar, the latest copies of the Quill, links to other sites and other items of interest.
Reading Counts: The PTA supports the Reading Counts program by contributing to the purchase of quizzes for the amazing readers at Santiago.
Computer Lab: Over the years the PTA has played a major part in maintaining up-to-date technology for Santiago. The PTA has purchased hardware, software, and countless accessory and maintenance items for the lab.
