The 6th Annual Scarecrows for STEAM Contest is back! This time honored tradition encourages students and families to celebrate STEAM skills through 3 artistic categories (individual, family, group).
INDIVIDUAL entries, students may work on their own to draw, color, mold, or craft a small scarecrow with 9 prizes up for grabs.
FAMILIES can collaborate with their student(s) and enter with a full sized scarecrow of their own creation for the chance at 3 prizes, and bragging rights!
This year we’re bringing back the prize for a winning GROUP. Get creative with your Boy Scout Pack, Girl Scout Troop, Kids Factory or TLC friends, ELAC community, Garden Buddies, or any other Santiago group to create a full-sized scarecrow, and celebrate community.
Every student who enters will receive a Scarecrows for STEAM Spirit Button

Santiago STEAM Magnet PTA was honored again at the Fourth District PTA's Administrators Dinner with the Creative Program Award for the NASA Moon Tree Ceremony & Educational Day 🏆
We demonstrated:
🔭STEAM education is powered through collaboration and teamwork
👩🚀When parents, educators, and communities align in goals - you can reach the moon (and beyond)
🚀Continuing to create hands-on opportunities and shared experiences for our kids is possible and important in a STEAM education.
🌛You belong in this community. You are needed and wanted.
Way to go Santiago Community!!!
In addition - our lovely librarian is now an AWARD WINNING Librarian!!
Congratulations Mrs. Chambion!!!
Santiago STEAM Magnet PTA wrote a short essay to celebrate and brag about a truly amazing Santiago community member—Mrs. Chambion. She was honored at the Fourth District PTA Administrators' Dinner on March 26th. We are so incredibly proud of her and grateful to have her dedication to community and positive influence shining on our kids.
Mrs Chambion -- Thank you for being a part of our community and helping all our kids feel like they belong. You are a treasure!
We are honored to announce that NASA has named Santiago STEAM Magnet Elementary an official Moon Tree Steward. The school will receive a Sequoia whose seed traveled aboard Artemis I, farther into space than any human has ever gone!
NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement and the USDA Forest Service reviewed more than 1300 applications from across the nation before selecting Santiago STEAM Magnet Elementary as recipient of this Moon Tree. The combined agencies congratulated Santiago for its Education Impact Statement and tree care plans, which distinguished the school as a first-round recipient.
The Moon Tree will provide unlimited opportunities for real-world investigation, scientific data collection, and conservation education. This unique, otherworldly tree will open up a universe of possibilities for our young students.
The moon tree ceremony was held on Monday, October 14th. Check back soon for videos and photos from the event!
Santiago STEAM Green and Santiago STEAM Magnet PTA applied for the “NASA Moon Tree” on behalf of Santiago STEAM Magnet Elementary School.
